God Alone Can Renew the Heart, October 4

“因为你们立志行事，都是上帝在你们心里运行，为要成就祂的美意”（腓2:13）。{RC291.1}

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13. {RC 291.1}

我们需要更多明白我们所参与之战争的重大关系，远过于我们现在所知道的。我们需要更加充分地了解上帝为这时代所赐给我们的真理的价值，和容许我们的心思被那大骗子诱导偏离这些真理的危险。{RC291.2}

Far more than we do, we need to understand the issues at stake in the conflict in which we are engaged. We need to understand more fully the value of the truths that God has given for this time and the danger of allowing our minds to be diverted from them by the great deceiver. {RC 291.2}

为救赎我们所需作之牺牲的无限价值，显明罪的穷凶极恶。因着犯罪，整个人体的组织都偏离了常规，心思被败坏，想象力也腐化了。罪已使心灵的机能退化。外来的试探与心弦相应，在不知不觉中脚步就偏向邪道。{RC291.3}

The infinite value of the sacrifice required for our redemption reveals the fact that sin is a tremendous evil. Through sin the whole human organism is deranged, the mind is perverted, the imagination corrupted. Sin has degraded the faculties of the soul. Temptations from without find an answering chord within the heart, and the feet turn imperceptibly toward evil. {RC 291.3}

正如为我们所献的祭是完备的，照样，我们得脱离罪恶的玷污也是要完备的。律法不会原谅任何的罪行；没有任何不义的行为能免于定罪。基督的生平完完全全的应合律法的每一个原则。祂说，“我遵守了我父的命令”（约15:10）。祂的生活是我们顺从与服务的标准。{RC291.4}

As the sacrifice in our behalf was complete, so our restoration from the defilement of sin is to be complete. There is no act of wickedness that the law will excuse; there is no unrighteousness that will escape its condemnation. The life of Christ was a perfect fulfillment of every precept of the law. He said, “I have kept my Father’s commandments” (John 15:10). His life is our standard of obedience and service. {RC 291.4}

惟独上帝能更新人心。“因为你们立志行事，都是上帝在你们心里运行，为要成就祂的美意”（腓2:13）。但我们也受命：“你们当……作成你们得救的工夫”（腓2:13,12）。{RC291.5}

God alone can renew the heart. “It is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13, A.R.V.). But we are bidden: “Work out your own salvation” (verse 12, A.R.V.). {RC 291.5}

在品格上纠正错误，实行改革，靠少许软弱间歇的努力是不行的。……人要征服自我，求得圣洁和天国，这种奋斗乃是终身的奋斗。若无继续不断的努力，和恒定一贯的活动，在神圣的生活中就不会有什么长进，也不会获致得胜者的冠冕。{RC291.6}

Wrongs cannot be righted, nor can reformations in character be made, by a few feeble, intermittent efforts.... The struggle for conquest over self, for holiness and heaven, is a lifelong struggle. Without continual effort and constant activity there can be no advancement in the divine life, no attainment of the victor’s crown. {RC 291.6}

世人曾从较高的地位堕落的最大明证，乃是回到原位必须付出重大代价的事实。要获得回归之路必须时刻艰苦地作寸土必争的战斗。顷刻间意志的失守，就会使自己跌入邪恶的权势之下；但要挣脱这些枷锁而得享更高尚更圣洁的人生，则需要有比一时立志更多的工夫去争战。志愿或已立定，恢复的工作也已开始，但仍须劳苦、光阴、恒心、忍耐与牺牲，方能成功。{RC291.7}

The strongest evidence of man’s fall from a higher state is the fact that it costs so much to return. The way of return can be gained only by hard fighting, inch by inch, every hour. By a momentary act of the will, one may place himself in the power of evil; but it requires more than a momentary act of will to break these fetters and attain to a higher, holier life. The purpose may be formed, the work begun; but its accomplishment will require toil, time, and perseverance, patience and sacrifice. {RC 291.7}

我们为无数的试探所围攻，必须坚决的抵抗，否则便被胜过。若是我们到了生命的尽头，还没有把工夫做成，那损失便是永远的损失了。保罗的成圣乃是时时与自我斗争的结果。他说：“我是天天死”（林前15:31）。他的意志和愿望，日日与责任和上帝的旨意相冲突。他没有顺着自己的倾向，反而按上帝的旨意行事为人，虽然要将他的本性钉在十字架上也是如此。上帝一步一步地引领着祂的子民。（8T.312，313）{RC291.8}

Beset with temptations without number, we must resist firmly or be conquered.... Paul’s sanctification was the result of a constant conflict with self. He said: “I die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31). His will and his desires every day conflicted with duty and the will of God. Instead of following inclination, he did God’s will, however crucifying to his own nature. God leads His people on step by step.—Testimonies for the Church 8:312, 313. {RC 291.8}
