保惠师又称为“真理的圣灵”。祂的工作是阐明并维护真理。祂先作为真理的圣灵住在人心里，然后祂就成了“训慰师”。在真理中有安慰和平安，在虚谎中就找不到真平安或安慰了。撒但有能力控制人的心，乃是藉着虚伪的学说和遗传。他令人注意虚伪的标准，来毁损人的品格。而圣灵藉着圣经向人心说话，将真理铭刻在人心中。这样，祂就暴露出错谬的道理，并把它从人心中驱除出去。基督使祂的选民顺服自己，乃是藉着真理的圣灵施用上帝的话。{DA 671}{AG 199.2}[2]

The Comforter is called “the Spirit of truth.” His work is to define and maintain the truth. He first dwells in the heart as the Spirit of truth, and thus He becomes the Comforter. There is comfort and peace in the truth, but no real peace or comfort can be found in falsehood. It is through false theories and traditions that Satan gains his power over the mind. By directing men to false standards, he misshapes the character. Through the Scriptures the Holy Spirit speaks to the mind, and impresses truth upon the heart. Thus He exposes error, and expels it from the soul. It is by the Spirit of truth, working through the Word of God, that Christ subdues His chosen people to Himself.24{AG 199.2}[2]

God intends that even in this life the truths of His Word shall be ever unfolding to His people. There is only one way in which this knowledge can be obtained. We can attain to an understanding of God’s Word only through the illumination of that Spirit by which the Word was given. “The things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God;” “for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:11, 10).25{AG 199.3}[3]

一切对于人类有价值的知识，和人所能领受的智慧，都来自智慧的泉源上帝。你们不可贸然摘取分别善恶树的果子，因为这果子是一度为光明天使的撒但所推荐的。他说人吃了这果子，就能知道善恶。但你们不要动它。真正的知识不会来自不信和邪恶的人。上帝的话是光明和真理。真正的光是从耶稣基督身上发出来的，祂“照亮凡生在世上的人”（约1:9）。神圣的知识来自圣灵，祂知道人类需要什么，以便今世增进平安、幸福和安宁，将来在上帝的国里获得永远的安息。{CT 360，361}{AG 199.4}[4]

From God, the fountain of wisdom, proceeds all the knowledge that is of value to man, all that the intellect can grasp or retain. The fruit of the tree representing good and evil is not to be eagerly plucked because it is recommended by one who was once a bright angel in glory. He has said that if men eat thereof, they shall know good and evil; but let it alone. The true knowledge comes not from infidels or wicked men. The word of God is light and truth. The true light shines from Jesus Christ, who “lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9). From the Holy Spirit proceeds divine knowledge. He knows what humanity needs to promote peace, happiness, and restfulness here in this world, and to secure eternal rest in the kingdom of God.26{AG 199.4}[4]

Never should the Bible be studied without prayer. Before opening its pages we should ask for the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, and it will be given.... The Spirit of truth is the only effectual teacher of divine truth.27{AG 199.5}[5]
